iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management – Qualification Number 603/5945/6 (link to qualification on Ofqual register)
The iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management. Through the qualification fast-track option, you will need to complete a Dog Health Check and Grooming Diary for at least 20 dogs to include a minimum of 10 different breeds, covering 6 coat types.
Range of coat types must include:
- Double coat
- Wool mix coat
- Wire coat
- Silk coat
- Wool coat
- Short and smooth
Breeds may cover but are not limited to:
- Shih Tzu / Bearded Collie / Golden Retriever / Pomeranian / Labrador
- Cockerpoo’s and Crossbreeds
- Fox Terrier / Welsh Terrier / West Highland Terrier / Border Terrier
- Spaniel / Yorkshire Terrier
- Poodle / Bichon
- Dalmatian / French Bulldog
This sounds daunting at first; however we believe that this way proves your skills on a greater variety of breeds and techniques. Any breed or cross breed can be used, as long as you show a good variety of techniques and skills. An example portfolio (but not limited to) could be the following breeds and trims:
Shih Tzu teddy style
Shih Tzu in full coat
Yorkshire Terrier teddy style
Cocker Spaniel 7F clip off
Cocker Spaniel clip, leaving furnishings
Springer Spaniel handstrip and tidy
Cavalier King Charles coat king and trim
Matted dog clip off
Poodle in scissored lamb trim
Bichon clip and scissor
Jack Russell reverse clip with comb attachment
Border terrier handstrip
Westie clip and scissor
Cockerpoo puppy cut or any asian fusion style
Welsh Terrier clip and scissor
Labradoodle teddy trim
Bedlington Terrier clip and scissor
Golden Retriever tidy trim and deshed
English Bulldog deshed and folds cleans
Puppy intro groom
Schnauzer traditional trim, clip and scissor
Along with completing the grooming diaries you need to complete the written assignments to demonstrate your knowledge, the units within the qualification are detailed below:

302: Promote the Welfare of Dogs conforming with Relevant Legislation
303: Customer Care and Managing Complaints
304: Assess and Plan Dog Grooming Styles and Maintenance of Equipment
305: Health Checking, Handling and Canine Behaviour
306: Prepare, Style and Finish a range of Dog Breeds
307: Canine Emergency First Aid
308: Planning the Operation of a Small Canine Business
